Salada mista (Mixed Salad)
How to play:
The children split into five similarly sized groups
and sit in a circle. One child stands in the middle.
Each group chooses the name of a salad, e.g. lettuce,
bean, radish or cucumber.
The child in the middle must try to find a place
in one of the salads by calling out the names
of two types of salad. They must now swap places.
The child in the middle tries to grab one of the
places in order to become a member of the salad.
The remaining child takes over as the person in
the middle, and the game starts again. If the
child calls out, "Mixed Salad", everybody
must swap places.
Instead of using salads, the game can also be
played with different categories, such as animals,
types of cars, or names of towns.
Known elsewhere as:
In Germany the game is called 'Fruit Salad' -
just as in Italy, where it is known as Macedonia.
