Hopscotch
How it works
You draw a maze, a snail or a house on the ground. The players hop through the different sections drawn and move a stone or piece of wood from one field to the next. The stone or piece of wood needs to land within the boundaries of the field.
There are many variations to make the game more difficult, e.g. hopping on the right or left leg only or having to carry the stone or piece of wood on your foot while hopping.

Similar games in other countries
Hopscotch is well-known in many countries. German children call the game "Hickeln" (Hopping) or "Himmel und Hölle" (Heaven and Hell). These games are thought to have originated in pre-Christian times. The original form of the drawing seems to have been an anticlockwise spiral. Evidence in stone has been found in many places, e.g. in Trojaborg on the island of Wier in the Gulf of Finland. There have been similar findings in Ireland, Great Britain, Sweden and Italy.
