Fish, fruit and vegetables
Fish, fruit and vegetables are the main ingredients of Portuguese cuisine. One of the national dishes is 'bacalhau' - dried cod - which is usually eaten with potatoes and fresh vegetables, and sometimes also with chickpeas. Portuguese salad traditionally consists of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, vinegar, olive oil and a little salt. There are also many variations on chicken, including 'frango na púcara', which is a chicken cooked in a pot, and 'cabidela', chicken cooked in its own blood with rice. Fruit is often served for dessert.

  • Remove the potatoes and then brown the onion slices.
