Power recipes
Collect and invent well-balanced "power recipes"
and compile the best ones into your very own cookery
book. You could then sell the book to friends and family
and spend the money you make on sports equipment or
leisure activities.

Professional eating habits
Ask professional sportsmen and -women from your local
club or area about their diets.
How do they make sure they get the necessary strength
and power for training and competitions?
Can they perhaps give you any tips?
top
Bread and games
Organise a games and sports day which also includes
information about food and diet. In addition to sport
and other activities, power drinks and foods could be
available, as well as information about different diets
for different types of sport and the calorie intake
needed for various activities.

What is my favourite food?
Write down your favourite foods and ask your friends
what they like eating most of all. Conduct an opinion
poll about children's food: Which popular products do
you like most? How often do you eat them and why do
you like them so much? Do you know what's in them?
Ask adults if they buy children's food products. Which
ones do they buy and why? Do they know what the products
contain? Do they ever read the list of ingredients?

Advertising v. reality
What "special treats" for children can be
found in the shops? What do they contain? What does
the small print say? What do the ads promise? What are
the ads trying to achieve? Which products use famous
sportsmen and -women for their advertising? And does
the food live up to the promises made?

Sport for jelly babies & friends
Find out the amount of calories contained in your favourite
food items and how many calories you burn off doing
different forms of exercise. What do you have to do
to "get rid of" a bag of jelly babies, or
to really "finish off" a salami pizza?
Come up with exciting and fun training exercises, such
as a "jelly baby rap", a "chocolate run"
or a swimming and cycling challenge against the likes
of Coke and crisps.

Juice bar
Water and healthy fruit juices don't have to look
or taste boring. If you decorate them nicely with
pieces of fresh fruit, these power drinks will become
irresistible!
Since you can make these drinks really quickly,
you could try offering them to your classmates during
break times from your very own "juice bar".
And if you can play some groovy tunes through the
speaker system, then your whole school will get
their daily dose of exercise as well! |

Healthy breakfast
Sit down with your friends and come up with ideas for
a healthy breakfast or a great snack made from well-balanced
ingredients. Once you have agreed upon the recipes you
all like, you can go to the shops and then make a feast!
top
Snack competition
Organise a "healthy breakfast competition",
either within your class or with the entire school.
The class which comes up with the tastiest breakfast
wins. Don't forget, nice looking food always tastes
better!
Your recipes can be judged by other pupils, food experts
or even sportsmen and -women from your local area.
